IT Technology at Indian Toll Plazas

As technology increasing, India has also developed its power in sector of information technology and results in replacement of man power.

Almost all situated plazas uses HTMS system called Highway Toll Management System.
Components/equipments used in this system are Treadles installation at roads, Height sensor to capture the vehicle height, Mini Arrays, Photo cell alignment with Light Emitting Diode.

                                                         Flowchart for the procedure

Treadles:Treadles are very hard rubber material installed at road in every lane. Currently there are five treadles out of which  two are (40% and 60%) and one is 100%. Following picture depicts:

Picture viewed above illustrates process for installing these five treadles by experienced professionals.

Mini Array:Mini array are the light systems which uses three LED lights red, yellow, green. Two mini array(transmitter and receiver) are installed at lane which lets uninterruptible functioning of toll lane system. Following picture depicts mini array glass inside this pole.

Photocell alignment:It is another component used at site for proper functioning of automatic lane barrier. Photocell uses red light emitting diode which reflects on reflector installed at opposite direction lets barrier for proper function. Any vehicle when comes between photocell cell and reflector, interrupting barrier to stop its working. Following picture depicts photo cell alignment:
Bar Code reader: It is another device used for scanning or reading bar code lines printed on a paper. In toll plaza, bar code is used to redeem return pass purchase. Following picture depicts bar code reader:
